In today’s civilian and law enforcement world it is essential that the shooter identifies the target as a threat prior to engaging the threat. The LVPO is the optic that provides this capability to identify threats at intermediate ranges as well as close range threats. This class is based on the utilization of Low Power Variable Optics such as 1x4, and 1x6 scopes in an Urban Area. Recommended rifles are semi-automatic rifles in 223/556, 300 blackout, or 308. Fixed low power scopes such as ACOGs and magnifiers can be used to accomplish the class goals as well. Scopes such as 3x10 scopes are not recommended. The student should have basic rifle handling skills and be able to shoot five round groups that average 3 inches from the prone position at 100 yards with the ammunition to be used in class. If the shooter is new to the scoped rifle it is recommended the student attend a Basic Scoped Rifle Class before attending the DMR class.
The course will focus on engagements from 50 yards to 250 yards to include target identification. Positional shooting will be stressed at 100 and 200 yards. The emphasis for this class is enhanced accuracy and identification of threat targets at intermediate distances.
